I get the same error even though I have tried a number of items suggested. I am on windows pro 10, 64 bit 2. I have tried to install both 32 bit and 64 bit office suite 3.
In reply to A. User's post on January 11, Thank you for your quick response. I had tried the fix-it before but this time it worked! I was able to install I thought the office disc and thought all was well. However, now I can't open anything by left clicking the start button, even though it does turn blue, and right clicking gives me the usual options.
Also, I no longer have the Microsoft Edge icon on my taskbar and it seems to have disappeared altogether, as has the office installation. I opened programs and features and even though it completely installed its not in the list of programs. In other words I am much worse of now than before. My main reason for installing the office program was, because I had it and because it was my hope that Mail and Calendar would work through Windows 10 since none of the workarounds have made them work and it appears it's becoming a none-issue for the techs, but not the customers.

Actually it has everything to do with you. Office is the Office Product area. Within each product area there are topics for the specific program. You choose only the product not the program so it defaulted to Microsoft Access.
I'm sorry but you did do something wrong though you aren't the first and won't be the list. What you did wrong is to not try and read all the instructions and understand what you were selecting. Second, this site is staffed mostly by volunteers, not Microsoft employees.
So no one here had any hand in messing up your machine. That's why you need to post in an area where there are people knowledgeable enough to help you. And finally, you ffree not required to immediately upgrade your machine. The vast majority of reviews have praised Win So there is no reason to get vulgar or downgrade the new OS just because you had a problem with it. I don't trust microsoft any more. I appreciate and empathize with your frustrations. But that doesn't justify your comments. Dindows I have heard of some issues, No where have I seen anything about "massive amounts" or that it has " made so many systems unusable ".
Win 10 was downloaded by over 5 million ftee prior to release. I was one of them. While I can't say I vigorously tested it, I ran into no problems when I used it. Frse know many people with the same experience. And, by the way, microskft problem may not be with Win 10 but with your version of Office. So you can't say Win 10 is the culprit. A product released that affects any more than one individual negatively should really be considered 'massive' or that company obviously doesn't care about its windos.
In regards to your other two points, just look around this here forum. People are complaining about windows 10 everywhere for all sorts of things. You may think that way if you want. The thread you linked to has 2 pages of responses. People may have obscure devices connected or software that doesn't play nice.
There is no way for Microsoft to accommodate every situation out there. Yes, there are going to be issues, but we have upgraded 5 machines in my office with no problems. Forums like this will attract the people with issues. People are not going to post here if they did a offife upgrade. My point here is that you are trash talking based on a very limited sample.

You both need to repost your question under the Office Installation topic. In reply to Scottgem's post on July 30, I didn't actually post it under Microsoft Access. I posted it under Office I can see my post there. How it came to be under Microsoft Access also has nothing to do with me. Somebody is welcome to move the post to where it should be. I am NOT reposting though. This post has 10 other people agreeing with it.
